Privacy Policy

The Association of Birth & Baby professionals takes your privacy seriously.

GDPR is becoming law in May 2018. This means you will have the choice as to whether you want to receive our communications and how.

The information we collect is never sold or used for purposes other than to provide you with the services you are familiar with. For special circumstances i.e competition winners, your details will only be shared with your consent.

You can decide not to receive communications or change how we contact you at any time. If you wish to do so please contact us by emailing info@theabbp.co.uk.

Data Storage

Here on this website! If you register with the site we will store your name and email address, as well any information you offer us about your role. Primarily the information you provide makes you more searchable by other members, it can also help you be more searchable online in general. To edit your information you can simply log in to your account. Once you have deleted this information we no longer have it either.

The Website can only be accessed by three people. Private accounts are really only ever opened for those members needing a password reset!

Mailchimp! If you’ve signed up to our mailing list, become a member or attended one of our events, your name and email address will make their way over to Mailchimp, which is the system we use to manage our newsletters and emails. They are (allegedly) GDPR compliant. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by hitting the unsubscribe button or by emailing us.

The Work Laptop! Our work laptop houses two spreadsheets of membership information which includes your name and email address. We may also have your home address on file if you have requested a membership certificate from us. This laptop is logged off when left and is encrypted for protection. If you would like this information removed please let us know.

Your Payment Details

If you have become a member or attended a paid event with us, your payments have usually been made via Paypal. Paypal is not currently GDPR compliant as far as we are aware, but we are sure they will be soon! If you have not used PayPal then you will have made a bank transfer or paid cash and we would not have any details to store anyway! If you would like your details removed from Paypal, you will need to log in and delete them from there. We do not have any control over information that Paypal are storing.

Emails and Newsletters

We will very occasionally send out a newsletter, or email you about upcoming events we might have! You have the right to opt out of this. Please let us know by email if you would prefer not to receive these, or unsubscribe.

Social Media

We are present on Twitter, Linked In, Facebook and Occasionally Pinterest. It is not a requirement for members to follow or use any of our social media platforms.
